Libretto
Act I:
Prince Siegfried celebrates his coming of age. His mother reminds him he must choose a bride at the royal ball. Troubled by the idea of duty over love, he escapes into the forest with his friends.
Act II:
By a moonlit lake, Siegfried encounters Odette, a beautiful maiden cursed to live as a swan by day. Only true love can break the spell. Siegfried swears his love and promises to save her.
Act III:
At the ball, the sorcerer Rothbart arrives with his daughter Odile, disguised as Odette. Siegfried, deceived, declares his love for Odile. The real Odette appears too late — the vow is broken.
Act IV:
Devastated, Siegfried rushes to Odette. They choose to die together, breaking the spell through the power of love. The evil is defeated, and their souls ascend in peace.
